Building & Safety Department

The Building Department's purpose is to protect the public health, safety, and welfare by inspecting and monitoring all new and existing structures, both residential and commercial.

The Codes adopted by the City of Shelley are subject to local amendments. Please contact the City of Shelley building department for information on specific amended codes.

Permits

Permits are required for any owner or authorized agent who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repour, remove, convert anything structural. Most permit applications require the submission of plans to be reviewed and approved for code compliance. Please be aware that building permits are required for roofing, fences, demolition, signs, sheds, decks, and solar panels, as well as any other structural projects. Please review the City Code for information regarding your project. Electrical, plumbing and HVAC permits are obtained through the State of Idaho.  Please review the following new construction packet before you begin building.
